Featured Girl Friday - Miss E
Our featured girl this week needs no introduction. Her story is just as beautiful as she is, and we know you'll love her just as much as we do!
Miss E is a 22-year-old bombshell from Nashville. She is a happily single graduate student at Vanderbilt, studying theology and ethics. For fun, Miss E loves baking, watching scary movies, going on hikes, and singing opera. She is most proud of her work this last year in NYC. Here, she helped organize the first cross-disciplinary conference of leaders working to end religiously-rooted sex shame and guilt.
Prior to booking, what hesitations did you have about a boudoir shoot?
"From what I knew about boudoir culture going in, it seemed like the art form was primarily geared towards straight women. As an LGBT person, I didn't know how I would fit. I had hesitations about whether or not I could be vulnerable and authentic when I was being photographed.
When I met the Adore Girls staff, I was relieved to discover nothing but love and support from all the lovely ladies in the studio. My experience taught me what boudoir can be at its best-- a medium for people to celebrate their bodies and embrace the freedom to be exactly themselves. I am thankful for places like this that give people the gift of authenticity, empowerment, and joy."
What specifically made you give us a call?
"For years and years, I struggled with how I perceived my body. Throughout my teens and early 20s, I avoided looking at myself naked, out of fear of what the little critical voices in the back of my head would say. I refused to accept compliments from others about my appearance -- even when they were coming from family, partners, and close friends.
As a person of faith exploring religious leadership, I also felt a tremendous amount of pressure to not appear 'sexual'. As a result, I found that I had to compartmentalize my sexuality and my faith in a way that I found constricting.
As I have gotten older, I have become more comfortable with my body and myself as a sexual being. I wanted this session to be an opportunity to mark how far I have come, and how much more LIFE I will experience in the future!"
Was your session a gift for anyone special? Or was this one just for you?
"This was just for me. I am excited to look back years from now and remember how happy I was when I took these pictures; how comfortable I was in my body; how excited I was to understand my body in new ways!"
How did your session with The Adore Girls differ from what you were expecting before entering our studio?
"I was blown away by how EASY it all was! Courtney and Jamie treat you like a friend that they want to celebrate, not a client, which makes the whole 'you're not wearing clothes' thing way less intimidating. By the time I had my makeup and hair done, I was practically jumping out of the chair, ready to put on my lingerie and high heels. The whole experience made me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world, and dammit, I was ready to show myself off!"
How did your session impact you as a woman?
"I will always be thankful for my boudoir session, because it reminded me that the most beautiful thing in the world is authenticity. I was given the chance to be un-apologetically myself, to let everything be out there, critics be darned. It felt like a love letter to my body after so many years of shame and insecurity. "
What was your favorite part of the boudoir experience?
"The final results of the Adore Girls photos are always so professional and incredible, so I didn't think I would have a chance to be goofy. There is something so wonderful about being able to giggle, even as you're in a full face of makeup, sitting butt naked on a couch. After all, the set up is quite funny, when you think about it! I was grateful for the opportunity to be joyful, despite being surrounded by fancy cameras and lights."
If you could give advice to a woman who was on the fence about booking a session, what would you tell her?
"Sure, boudoir is an act of transformation. You get all gussied up, and the ladies at the studio are experts at posing and lighting. But at the end of the day, what makes a session great is not the opportunity to become something or someone different. The gift of boudoir is that you will be given an opportunity to see YOURSELF for exactly you. If I could give advice to a potential client, I would say this: You deserve celebration. You deserve joy. You deserve self-love. You deserve freedom to be exactly who you are!"
